I’ve seen many of these animals just released when finances get tight. Just imagine SHTF.
I’m trying to use this to justify a Barrett 50 but not having much luck

We get occasional reports of big cats (panthers, pumas) from the game wardens, but they mostly stay further North.
Now, I got a young Black Bear on a game cam vid, on the back part of the property. Granted my backyard is over 150acres.
Something like that, something in the .300 (WSM, RCM) or .338 families could be good.
Lighter weight, not as $$$$ to shoot as a Fifty.
The .325WSM is kinda neat too (I got the Cartridges of the World out).

Meh somebody keeps whining bout food, AC and unnecessary things she could sacrifice for my happiness so I dunno
I’ll remind her when the elephant runs over her during the zombie apocalypse

Yeah, there is that.
But who would you rather face? Zombies or a pissed off Mrs.??

Tigers don’t require a .50, just a big hunk of lead.
12ga Brenekke slugs are extremely effective on the soft skinned cats according to a couple of African professional hunters.

Um with the 12 gauge idea it’s a bad one as you have to get too close. When in a place with big cats and one gets I hired and then hides in tall grass you have to go in and kill.the wounded animal.. using a shot gun then is best bet because it will.be close and you need max stopping power… a 4 gauge holland and holland with slug a 1/4 lb of slug per barrel… it’s so fast no way you will get to rack a shotty in time for second shot before you become.cat scat.
As for tiger on loose like that distance is your friend. Though I think a 1600 foot plus shot and pen ot 50 might be over kill and having to worry about over pen damages could be a concern. Does not every guy want one just for the I got one factor…. never know when you need to stop a truck or other vehicle.

Rack the shotgun?
Ain’t that why we have semi-automatics?
8-9 slugs as fast as you can pull the trigger. My old Benelli was a beast and would just spit those things out.
100y away, not a threat but I can still make hits with the slugs.
As for the .50, got to play with enough that I don’t have any interest.

How long does it take you in between shots on a semi auto to regain picture and fire accurately again… even with fastest semi it’s not as fast a a side by side delivering both barrels with enough stopping power 12 gauge is 1 oz slug 4 gauge is .4 oz. So 4x the killing power per barrel so with 2 barrels you would have 8 shots … you lose no matter how you slice it.
You dont have time with a large cat for multi shot in tall grass it’s a fraction of a second you will only get one pull of a trigger. Many times it’s a not perfect shot hit but a off center hit using sound to place the shot.
Tiger can leap 30 feet in single standing leap and go from 35 to 40 miles. So you have fractions of a second.
Have you actually done that go after a wounded big cat in tall grass.. I have done it, it’s not fun
