Good luck with that , your talking about attempting to contain over 300 million people . Your also talking about the biggest private army the world has ever known . People want to go somewhere , they are going to . Both the LE and Military combined do not have the man power …………..and never will . Shoot your own people ? Bad idea , you now just started a civil war . The situation doesnt warrant that , this isnt the black plague . Rural areas are too spread out to try to contain . They are not going to send a truck full of Marines , way out into the sticks , just to make sure one goober doesnt leave his house . The big cities ? Ok , lets break it down . Take metro Phoenix as an example . You have over 10 million people in that metro area , how many cops do you have ? How many guardsmen do you have ? Lets say somebody gets too heavy handed , and sparks retaliation . Lets just say only 1/10 of the people revolt …………..thats 1 million armed people , fighting a guerrilla war in an urban area . Not any fun for the enforcers . The only place where lock down is possible , are the small cities . The other places are too big , or too remote for your man power . Like in WW2 , the population is cooperating ( by in large ) with this crisis , they have little need . Another reality is , that this may NEVER go away . No vaccine , no point . It may just turn. out to be something mankind is going to have to live with .

      Well said Tolik.

If the NG stays at the local, state control, then they can if needed, operate in a security role.
If the president were to nationalize them, then they are not allowed, by law, to be used as a security against US citizens.

We also have to think about the personality of our leader . Donald Trump absolutely has NO patience , when on the job . As we know , he does not hesitate to fire anybody that he feels is not getting results . He is result oriented . A bottom liner . As such , he will give no order that will not gain a real benefit and result . Thats why the US will probably never go on a internal lock down . That is more detrimental than beneficial , something that would be unacceptable to this president . Others would look at this crisis as an opportunity to further an agenda , and grow the government . The government ways frustrate him , again he wants to just get it done , whatever that is at the time . I personally am glad we have him dealing with this crisis .
