ModeratorThis might not be a popular opinion but dissolving it or a hard reset might not be a bad thing at this point. It’ll get re-established if for no other reason there is too much money in it.
Something has to give to remove the corruption, idiocy and rich folks attitude.
Negotiating Rights Away NRA need to go. We aren’t going to gain any ground for another two years anyway so this is a good time. Irregardless I’ll never join again. I broke weak after they sold out in the 90s and fell for the “we gotta stick together” bunk but I’m older and wiser now.
I hate to see the lib AG win but why the heck was it up there in libville to begin with!?! -

ParticipantI agree , we also need to get tother things the heave ho , if we want to be free men . We need to do three things that would get the establishment off our backs , overnight .
1.Get rid of all ” for profit ” prisons !!!!!!!!! this needs to happen folks ! make prisons a total burden to the state . They will start getting rid of laws real fast if its on their nickel . The motivation to arrest will soon go away .
2. Get rid of property forfeiture . Motivation for theft , and legalized theft is all that is , it helps create BAD COPS . No forfeiture of ANY kind UNTIL that person has due process , and a CONVICTION . Remember innocent until proven guilty ?
3. Get rid of ALL qualified immunity for enforcers . Cops of all levels have gotten so bad that some of this is already in a few state legislatures as a bill . They clearly cant conduct themselves properly internally . Without protection , the bad ones will start to drop out . They get what WE get , no more , no less . Bad ones are epidemic right now , this needs to happen , at least for a time . Get a return of the peace officer , the thugs go to the can .
One of those things that if we take the money out of the system , it will get better , almost over night .

ModeratorPrivate prisons are there because of politics. The states refuse to put up the money rather spending it on pet projects. Here they use the constitutional requirement of balanced budget annually as the excuse. Executive staff of state and fed joints figured out how to make a buck after retirement. Until this is fixed it won’t change.
The Peace Officer model died because of one word. That word is ineffective.
It didn’t work when life was simple and it certainly doesn’t in our complex world now.The past doesn’t hold the key to future reforms IMO
I do agree things need to change but mostly by geographical areas and not just the police but The People

KeymasterI too have wonder if it was not time for a reset of the NRA.
When Oliver North resigned and pointed out the level of corruption at the highest levels, that said something to me.
While the NRA may be one of the most powerful lobbying gun rights groups, it is not the only one. IF the NRA went by the way side, one of the other ones could take up that mantel. -

ModeratorStimulus checks were spent.
Too bad they didn’t use it on food, generators and other preparedness items they’ll need at some point. That’s the numbers I’d like to see through the roof especially after the last year and half.-

ParticipantWas talking to one of our sub contractors , that lives in NH , went to pick up a revolver at the FFL over the weekend . He said the background check site crashed twice while he was waiting . 3rd time was the charm , I guess .

ModeratorI got to thinking about this. Most my transactions in these places are during the week on off hours but even at that I just didn’t see that much traffic.
I wonder what the geographical breakdown is because I’m just not seeing that much move outta shops.
Maybe gunshows on the weekends? -

KeymasterI was wondering if sales were in more crime prone areas. Seen a number of stats saying a good part of buyers were first time buyers, minorities and women.
Are there a number of new stuff I would like to have?
Sure.
Do I really need it to the point I am willing to separate myself and money for it? With what I already have on hand.
Not really.
I picked up that Ruger GSR at a gun show a few years ago, as I wanted something light and handy. And I already have the stuff for .308WIN.
Would a rifle in one of the new 6.5s be cool? Sure. But with the current ammo, component shortage. No point in buying something if I cannot shoot it.
