Inflation has been steadily on the rise for years. Where it really hurts and is easy to see is in food and soft goods.
Every package at the store is smaller and costs more.

Yes – they’ve been doing it subtly until now. (At least for those not truly paying attention.) The fact that they’re announcing it openly gives a hint that things to come are going to be much, much worse.

Also, look what happened with sugar. Used to be 5lbs and now it is 4lbs and cost more. Cereal is the same size box but the bags are full of air and not much in the way of cereal. Can sizes have decreased in size as well. From 16 ozs, down to 14 ozs. they have a way to package things to make it look like you are getting the same amount but pay close attention to some of the foods you buy. This has been going on for a while now. This spring I am going to hit the farm markets for veggies and fruit as we don’t have a lot of space for a garden. Though it does well for what we are able to plant. My niece is coming over this summer to learn how to can food. So I will be doing some teaching this summer. I do need to stock up on canning jars as right now mine are all in use and I will need more. They are getting harder to find around here now.

@littlesister – Have you checked Amazon or thrift stores for canning jars?

haven’t checked yard sales as they won’t start back up till early spring. I will be hitting those for both canning jars and cast iron pots. Thrift stores have’t had canning jars around here in a long while. Amazon last I checked prices were not that great. But will be checking again soon. I also want to get a second pressure cooker so I can do more canning at one time.
